Heiwa Tofu
We are a family committed to eating local, organic, seasonal foods. We value community and we value good clean food. We love growing our own food and supporting local farmers. We care about what goes into our bodies and our children’s bodies.
We have been producing tofu since fall of 2008. Each batch is carefully made and packed by hand. Our soybeans are MOFGA certified, grown outside of Skowhegan. If we use up all of the Maine grown beans, we use non-GMO, pesticide-free beans bought directly from a farmer in NY state.
We currently produce 850 pounds of tofu a week. We deliver to Belfast, Camden, Rockland, and Rockport. Crown of Maine Organic Cooperative distributes throughout Maine and beyond.

Our factory is the outcome of hard work and many generous hands and minds coming together.
Thanks to our families for supporting our business venture, farmers Bob Reisner, Bob Crowe, and Donnie Webb for their hard work, Paul Cartwright for his inventions, Rudy Canales, mentor and master tofu maker, Jory Squibb for helping us lift some very heavy pieces of equipment, Rob Lovell for selling us his tofu making equipment that he kept in his barn for over 20 years, Ryan Bulger and my sister, Nao, for creating a website, many friends who care for our daughters Ina and Ami when needed, our local community who has so eagerly supported us, and our loyal customers all over the state and beyond. Our heart goes out to you all.
